It's been a couple of weeks and the gearhead world is still reeling with news of the December 27, 2015 passing of Gary Meadors, the original Goodguy. Shocking to all of us because all of us were well accustomed to a healthy, tanned and smiling Gary, no matter the venue or time of year. Read More!

For the better part of three decades we've cruised Interstate 5 from the Canadian border to Northern California, gathering coverage of rod runs and car shows.
One of our favorite "legs" on these road trips begins at Albany, where we say a quick hello to CruZin' correspondent Bob Symons, cruise through Eugene, an espresso stop in Creswell, back roads to Cottage Grove, brief thrift store stop, on through Yoncalla and we arrive at our destination, Sutherlin, Oregon, home of the Sutherlin Blackberry Festival. Can Goodguys fill the Fairgrounds? We didn't have specific numbers, but it sure looked like it to us! Walk down every aisle, turn every corner and there were more cars, sometimes as far as the eye could see! In past years, numbers have ranged between 2500 and 3000 registered vehicles, and 2015 seemed no different. 2015 was also the 28th year since the Goodguys organization first dipped their toes (figuratively, but it conjures up some interesting visuals) in the allegedly damp Pacific Northwest and it's been nothing but up, and largely dry, ever since. Seaside Muscle and Chrome is a show that's really fun for us to attend. There's an array of cars from the so-called "Muscle Car Era", as well as modern hot factory machines and trucks of all ages. The bulk of the show, of course, consists of a "show and shine" in the downtown district, but at the beginning and end of the Saturday show, things get dynamic. Read More!

Once again, Billetproof filled the Lewis County Fairgrounds in Chehalis with hot rods, customs, vintage motorcycles and just plain cool old iron. We know - we were there! Something notable about this event is that it's a "happy" one, by which we mean that everyone's just plain having a good time. It helped, of course, that the weather was great - like most of the extraordinary weather of 2015, - so the turnout was good, not that it is really a problem, as the Billetproof crowd seem largely indifferent to weather. It was one of those weeks, sorting logistics, arranging coverage of multiple shows, a weekend of "work" that began with spending an evening and sharing a meal with Bob and Linda Roseberry. That put us in a much better position to get to the Friday, July 24, opening of the Goodguys show at Puyallup, which in turn, positioned us notably closer to our Saturday event, "Run to the Rock" at Castle Rock, a handful of miles north of Longview, Washington, just off Interstate 5. We're not real "gung-ho" car show people, but being members of the Eureka Elks Club, and being "family" with Jeanne and David Marin, we couldn't help but hear about this "Rod Run" with a show and shine at the Elks Club. Soon, we found ourselves "volunteered" to take photos and help put together a little photo feature on this event. Read More!
