Farewell to an Extraordinary Street Rodder

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing David Sukau well. Oh, we had the usual gearhead "nodding acquaintance", "hi-how-are-ya" at the Portland Roadster Show and assorted rod runs around the Northwest. I knew, of course, that he was in the Portland Roadster Show "Hall of Fame", that is to say, his '23 Ford "SunkisT" T was and is a "Hall of Fame" car. Read on

No, Dave and Al didn't have to dodge bullets like Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday at the OK Corral. But each was the last man (car) standing after the final rounds were fired at the Budweiser Top Fuel Shootout and the AMS Pro-Mod Challenge during the AC Delco Las Vegas Nationals, October 30, 2004. The Pro-Mod event was actually called a "shootout" prior to Las Vegas, but the sponsors agreed to use the term "challenge" pursuant to NHRA's request to give each event a clear-cut identity. Read on
