From The Staff
We Said We’d Budget & We Were Half-Right
By David Marin & The CruZin' Staff
Last issue we indicated that we would budget space for both Readers Write and the Club Directory. Well, we were half right; we did manage to include a few letters from our readers in this issue. We’ll make certain the Club Directory gets priority next time.

We did make a valiant effort, adding another eight pages we thought would make the difference. Alas, though this issue contains more glossy pages than any of its predecessors, we just couldn’t make room where there wasn’t any.

The hope is that you’ll enjoy the issue as much as we enjoyed gathering the material that you’ll find between the front and back covers. Visiting with Stuart Hilborn was a privilege I’ll not forget.

Now we’re in the whirlwind. We hit the road most weekends then hurry home to stay current with what needs to be done. The cruise to the Lower Co-lumbia Classics/Beach Barons Fifties Cruise Reunion was a blast from the Rods In Progess material we grabbed the day before the event to the Pacific County Cruisers “Chili Feed” at Raymond the day after the event. Special thanks go out to Steve Jordan of the Lower Columbia Classics for the great hospitality and especially for taking the time to give us the “shop tour” around the area and to help with the gathering of “Rods in Progress” material. Thanks also to the CruZin’gearheads that took the time to show us around their shops and project(s). It was a blast!

Shifting gears a little, mention should be made of the reemergence of the Washington State Hot Rod Hall of Fame and hopefully you’ll take the time to read the brief article on Page 22. Pat D’Ambrosio has, in my opinion, done gearheads throughout the Northwest a great service by breathing life into the Hall of Fame. Congratulations to all the 2007 inductees.

Now hopefully the members will establish goals and means by which to obtain such goals. Our hobby can and will grow and prosper if we encourage and support the youngsters out there who show an interest in the hobby. Looking into funding trade school scholarships and otherwise supporting budding enthusiasts is more than an opportunity; it’s an obligation we have to the hobby.

That about puts this issue to bed. Hope you enjoy the issue… now to clean up the old hot rod and get to a little cruising!
