To continue, we’re going to approximate that CruZin’, over the years, has covered an average of 15 events per issue… that a really conservative number because we’ve always had at least a dozen events and have ranged as high as 22 events, but, for the sake of conversation we’ll do a little calculus (isn’t that what you do with a calcula-tor?) And we’re gonna say that minimally we’ve covered 1,500 events probably realistically more like 2,000. In the early years, say 1988 - 1994 the CruZin’ family was on the road every weekend and oftentimes hit three or even four events over a weekend. That was the old stop at a show, shoot photos, take notes and on to the next event, get two events behind us than set up our booth, promote our advertisers and sell subscriptions. We covered hundreds of events, photo-graphed thousands of vehicles and met thousands upon thousands of gearhead, hot rodder, purist, low rider, lead sled, muscle car, foreign and domestic, diesel, propane and gas, denim jeans, T-shirts, poodle skirts and pom-pom good and decent folks. Those are the folks that support what we do, have done so for years and will hopefully to do so for as long as we’re around. So where is all this going? Why this diatribe (in the archaic sense)? Well, recently we’ve had friends come to us with reports that they’ve been at various events where an individual is setting up a booth and selling subscriptions to a new magazine which is promising to begin delivering subscriptions via the United States Post Office, to a monthly magazine for $12 a year. That’s all well and good if they can do it and we certainly find nothing wrong with the free enterprise system. However, what has also come back to us is that this “entity” is claiming to have talked to us and to have all but concluded negotiations for the purchase of our business. Wrong! The only contact we have received regarding the possible sale of our business has come from broker-age companies that deal in the buying and selling of publications. We receive postcards, e-mails and phone calls asking if we have an interest in selling. Over the past 10 years we’ve probably had more than 100 such contacts. Other than saying “no” to the phone calls we’ve never responded to any such contact. Why? Because we like what we’re doing and have nothing we’d rather do otherwise. What we’re saying is that these rumors through the grapevine are drivel and should be ignored. Here it is… from the front end of the horse… we aren’t looking at selling, we haven’t entered negotiations, we haven’t even been contacted and anyone who says otherwise is talking out of the other end of the horse. If any of that changes you’ll read it here first.
