Seattle Roadster Show… The Constant Pursuit of Perfection
Photos & Story by Brian Curtis
I had the pleasure of helping a local car nut prepare his vehicle for the 2008 Seattle Roadster Show. I hadn’t done this chore in over 40 years and for me it was a blast from the past. I quickly recalled the process of crawling over and under the car, cleaning, polishing, spiffing every little detail until perceived perfection was achieved. Nothing is ever perfect, but you’d never know it looking at the gleaming chrome and beautiful paint.

I wandered through the show cars on the day before the opening, watching the entries being prepared for the big day, all this after being brought to near completion before arriving. For me, this added to the excitement. Memories again flooded back, memories of the Sixties when all this happened at a much smaller venue, but with the same end result.

The 2008 Seattle Roadster Show is over, but certainly not forgotten. Once again expectations were met and/or exceeded. Many comments came from both participants and spectators, and all were positive, upbeat and complimentary. The exquisite, exotic, impeccable show vehicles did not disappoint. The Qwest Field Event Center was filled with a superb variety of automobilia from rods, customs and classics to race cars and “show only” cars. Some of the finest builders in the west were vying for the gold with their incredible treasures. We are so lucky to have this venue to showcase the quality of workmanship which is not always seen on the street or in outdoor car shows and cruises. The displays and show cards are artistic and original and have to be appreciated along with the vehicles. It is all good!
